Public Transport Fare Structure and Transfer Rules

Operators do not set public bus and train fares unilaterally. The Public Transport Council (PTC) regulates fares and reviews them annually against a published fare formula.

Distance-based structure

Element Rule
Charging basis Total distance travelled in one journey across bus and/or MRT/LRT
Transfer pricing Same distance costs the same whether direct or with valid transfers
Feeder bus services Fare capped at the up-to-3.2 km band
Express bus services Card fares set higher than basic (adult express currently +S$1 versus basic)
Cash versus card Cash fares are higher than card/contactless fares for the same distance
