Literature and Publishing Anchors
Dated NAC grant, prize-eligibility, and NLB Singapore Literature bibliography anchors for the four-language literary ecosystem — without inventing title counts or annual award tallies.
Literature and Publishing Anchors
Use these rows for grant caps, prize eligibility, and bibliography coverage. Narrative interpretation lives in literature and publishing. Do not invent catalogue title totals or undated annual award counts.
Ecosystem organisations (NAC framing)
| Organisation | Role in literary ecosystem | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| National Arts Council (NAC) | Statutory funder and sector facilitator for literary arts | Named key partners: The Arts House, Singapore Book Council, Sing Lit Station |
| Singapore Book Council (SBC) | Prizes, Writers Lab, SWF / AFCC programming | Not a statutory board |
| The Arts House | Literary programming partner | Named by NAC Literary Arts page |
| Sing Lit Station | Writers' centre and community programmes | Named by NAC Literary Arts page |

NAC literary grant anchors (dated)
| Anchor | Value | Effective / as-of |
|---|---|---|
| Creation Grant applicant status | Singapore citizens or permanent residents | NAC Creation Grant overview (accessed 8 Aug 2026) |
| Creation Grant duration | Up to 18 months | Same |
| Creation Grant quantum cap | S$50,000 per applicant | Same |
| Creation Grant literary genres | Fiction; creative/literary non-fiction; young adult; graphic novel; poetry; translation | Literary-arts-specific notes on same page |
| Creation Grant guideline refresh | Revisions take effect 15 February 2026 | Announced 14 February 2026 on Creation Grant overview |
| Presentation & Participation tracks including Publishing | Music recording; publishing; exhibition/performance; festivals/conferences | P&P overview |
| P&P (General) quantum cap | S$100,000 per applicant per financial year | From 16 April 2026 (absorbs former Production / Extended Play tracks) |
The normalized Creation Grant labels are creation_cap_50000 and citizen_or_pr: the cap is S$50,000 per applicant and eligibility is for Singapore citizens or permanent residents, subject to the current guidelines (NAC Creation Grant). Treat P&P Publishing as the publication track; it is separate from the Creation Grant writing process (NAC P&P overview).

Prize eligibility anchors
| Prize | Work status required | Language / age notes | Top prize (as cited) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Golden Point Award | Unpublished short stories / poetry (plus English short-story translation category) | Four official languages; citizens and PRs; no age limit; not yet published a solo work in the genre entered | Organised with Arts House / SBC; NAC-supported (2025 edition) |
| Singapore Literature Prize | Published books | Fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction in four languages plus debut, comics/graphic novel, translation (18 categories in 2024) | S$3,000 per category (2024 FAQ) |
| Hedwig Anuar Children's Book Award | Children's / young-adult books (separate from SLP) | Picture-book and middle-grade tracks; biennial | S$3,000 (SBC HABA page) |
The SLP requires a published book, while the Golden Point Award is for unpublished short stories or poetry; these are distinct work-status requirements. That children's books go to HABA not SLP is the separate children's-book award route (SLP 2024 FAQ; SBC Golden Point Award; SBC HABA).

Denominator traps
- Creation Grant S$50,000 ≠ typical award. It is a per-applicant ceiling for creation expenses, not a guaranteed payment.
- P&P Publishing ≠ Creation Grant. Creation funds the writing/adaptation process; P&P Publishing supports bringing literary books to readers.
- SLP ≠ GPA. SLP is for published books; GPA is for unpublished short-form work.
- NLB bibliographies ≠ live national catalogue of every SingLit title through the access year. Coverage windows stop at the stated end years (Tamil extended only to 2021).
