Environment System Anchors

Parent-scale dated anchors across Singapore's environment subsystems — climate pledges and carbon tax, electricity fuel mix, national waste tonnage and recycling denominators, nature-reserve extent, and coastal vulnerability — each with explicit population and reference period.

Environment System Anchors

Narrative: environment system overview. Child datasets hold subsystem detail — climate policy anchors, green plan anchors, energy power grid anchors, waste and recycling statistics, nature biodiversity anchors, coastal protection anchors. Use each row with its population, denominator, and reference period; "recycling rate" and fuel-mix shares are unsafe without those qualifiers.

Climate pledges and carbon price

Anchor Value Population / denominator Reference period
Net zero emissions By 2050 National economy-wide pledge Announced 25 Oct 2022
2030 NDC emissions level Around 60 MtCO₂e National emissions after peaking earlier Revised NDC Oct 2022
Carbon tax rate S$45 per tCO₂e Taxable facilities ≥ 25,000 tCO₂e direct GHG per year 2026–2027

Electricity generation mix

Fuel / source Share Population / denominator Reference period
Natural gas 93.1% Share of gross electricity generation 1H 2025
Solar photovoltaic 2.5% Share of gross electricity generation 1H 2025
Other (waste, biomass, imports) 3.0% Share of gross electricity generation 1H 2025

Solid waste recycled 3.657 million tonnes All waste streams nationally 2025
Solid waste disposed 3.358 million tonnes All waste streams nationally 2025
Overall recycling rate 52% All streams (domestic + non-domestic) 2025
Domestic recycling rate 11% Domestic/household stream only 2025
Non-domestic recycling rate 67% Non-domestic stream only 2025
