Aviation Industry Employment and Cluster Anchors
Dated MOT and EDB anchors separating Singapore air-hub GDP and employment from aerospace-cluster output, headcount, and global MRO share — without inventing firm-level market shares.
Aviation Industry Employment and Cluster Anchors
These rows separate air-hub connectivity economics from the aerospace manufacturing and MRO cluster. Do not invent firm market shares beyond the cited EDB/MTI global-output percentages.
Air hub (Ministry of Transport)
| Metric | Value | As-of / source note |
|---|---|---|
| Air hub contribution to GDP | About 5% | MOT Global aviation hub page (last updated 22 Jan 2026; accessed 8 Aug 2026) |
| Direct air-hub employment | Over 60,000 workers | Same MOT page — broader than aerospace manufacturing headcount |
| Airline/network footprint | Some 100 airlines; more than 7,300 flights weekly; over 170 cities | Same MOT page |
| Changi passenger movements | 69.98 million | Calendar 2025 (MOT) |
| Changi cargo | 2.08 million tonnes | Calendar 2025 (MOT) |

Aerospace cluster (EDB)
| Metric | Value | As-of / source note |
|---|---|---|
| Aerospace companies | 130+ | EDB Aerospace industry page (accessed 8 Aug 2026) |
| Aerospace workforce | About 22,000 | EDB Airshow 2026 insight (accessed 8 Aug 2026) |
| Aerospace output | Exceeded S$18 billion; +19% year on year | Calendar 2024 (EDB Airshow 2026 insight) |
| Prior-year output growth | +16% year on year | Calendar 2023 (EDB Aerospace industry page) |
| Global MRO output share | About 10% | EDB / MTI framing cited on EDB pages |
| Global engine MRO output share | Close to 20% | EDB Airshow 2026 insight — not passenger traffic |

Denominator traps
- 60,000 air-hub jobs ≠ 22,000 aerospace jobs. The first is the broader hub ecosystem; the second is the industrial cluster.
- 10% global MRO output ≠ 10× Changi passenger traffic. MRO share is maintenance industrial output, not airport throughput.
- Prefer these dated agency figures over undated “Asia’s largest” adjectives.
