Market and Hawker Stallholder Rental Support 2026
Singapore provides eligible self-employed primary stallholders in government or government-appointed markets and hawker centres with six months of rental support from September 2026 to February 2027.
Market and Hawker Stallholder Rental Support 2026
The Government is providing rental support to stallholders in markets and hawker centres managed by the Government and Government-appointed operators for six months, from September 2026 through February 2027. The measure is intended to help mitigate cost increases affecting hawkers, including electricity, gas, packaging, raw materials, transport and logistics. NEA says it will benefit about 15,000 stalls (NEA, Support for Stallholders, accessed 5 September 2026).
Amount and eligible stall types
Eligible cooked-food stallholders receive S$200 per month, or S$1,200 over six months. Eligible market slab or lock-up stallholders receive S$100 per month, or S$600 over six months. The higher cooked-food amount reflects the broader cost pressures associated with cooking energy and raw materials; it is not a general cash payment to every person working at a stall (NEA, Support for Stallholders).
Eligibility and monthly test
The support is for Singapore citizens and permanent residents who are registered stallholders with an active tenancy on the first day of the relevant month, and who are self-employed hawkers registered as the primary stallholder. A stallholder must therefore satisfy the monthly active-tenancy condition for each month's support; a tenancy commencing after the first day of a month does not qualify for that month's disbursement (NEA, Support for Stallholders).
Delivery and multiple stalls
The support is delivered as a credit note or waiver that can offset rental payment and other fees, rather than necessarily as an unrestricted cash transfer. NEA, HDB, JTC and SLA are involved in ensuring the rental credit passes through for centres and markets managed by their respective appointed operators. A person with multiple eligible stalls may receive support for each stall, provided each has an active tenancy on the first day of the relevant month (NEA, Support for Stallholders).
Scope boundary
The measure is a time-limited rental-credit support programme for qualifying stallholders and stalls in the specified government-managed or government-appointed centres. It is not a permanent rent reduction and is not a household payment. It should not be confused with the separate 2025 SG60 one-off rental support, general hawker licensing, or a promise that private-market stalls outside the stated operator scope receive the same support (NEA, Support for Stallholders).
