Sustainability Nexus Forum 2026

Singapore’s Sustainability Nexus Forum 2026 was the inaugural cross-industry sustainability forum of the National University Health System (NUHS) cluster, held on 13 August 2026. It brought together partners from infrastructure, energy, logistics, healthcare and technology to discuss sustainability across the healthcare value chain (MSE, Sustainability Nexus Forum 2026, 13 August 2026). The forum was a knowledge-sharing and partnership platform, not a new regulatory body, grant programme or national healthcare standard; it did not create binding standards.

Scope and relationship to earlier NUHS forums

The forum broadened NUHS’s earlier healthcare-focused platforms. The official account describes the 2024 Healthcare Sustainability Symposium and 2025 Sustainability Public Forum as primarily focused on sustainability within healthcare, while the 2026 forum extended the conversation to organisations supporting healthcare delivery (MSE, Sustainability Nexus Forum 2026, 13 August 2026). The forum did not establish a shared target across all participating companies; it created no binding obligations.

JurongHealth examples

Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital, described together as JurongHealth Campus, were presented as examples of integrating sustainability into healthcare delivery. One example was repurposing and upgrading MRI scanners rather than replacing them, extending their operational life by another 10 years. Another was a Waterless Adult ICU project implemented across more than 40 ICU rooms, which the speech says reduced approximately 7 tonnes of carbon emissions and saved approximately 1.9 million litres of water (MSE, Sustainability Nexus Forum 2026, 13 August 2026). These are campus- or project-specific outcomes, not national healthcare-sector totals.

Climate-adaptation context

The forum was linked to Singapore’s 2026 Year of Climate Adaptation and the development of the first National Adaptation Plan. MSE reported that approximately 50 stakeholder engagements had already been held by the time of the forum, alongside National Adaptation Conversations involving the public, businesses, academia, community groups, youth and other stakeholders (MSE, Sustainability Nexus Forum 2026, 13 August 2026). The forum therefore illustrates one sectoral contribution to adaptation dialogue; it is not itself the National Adaptation Plan or evidence that the plan had been completed.
