MDDI Family scholarships 2026
The MDDI Family's 2026 scholarship awards span public-service and industry pathways in cybersecurity, digital government, digital infrastructure, information services, libraries, media and technology.
MDDI Family scholarships 2026
The Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), together with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, GovTech Singapore, the Infocomm Media Development Authority and the National Library Board, awarded 72 scholarships on 12 August 2026. The awards form a public-service and industry talent pipeline for digital development, government communications, libraries, media and technology; they are distinct scholarship schemes grouped under the MDDI Family, not one universal scholarship with identical terms (MDDI, 12 August 2026).
Public-service undergraduate and postgraduate awards
The public-service side includes three undergraduate scholarship groupings: the Smart Nation Scholarship, the MDDI Information Service and Information Service (Translation) Scholarships, and the NLB Scholarship. In 2026, 12 recipients received the Smart Nation Scholarship, 3 received the MDDI Information Service Scholarship, 1 received the translation scholarship, and 2 received the NLB Scholarship. The MDDI Family also awarded its postgraduate scholarship to 5 MDDI officers for postgraduate studies. These counts describe the 2026 award ceremony and do not state the total number of scholarships available in every future intake (MDDI, 12 August 2026).
The public-service awards are consequently separate pipelines serving different public functions, even though the ceremony grouped them under the MDDI Family label. A recipient count for one track should not be generalized to another track's eligibility, bond or career route (MDDI, 12 August 2026).
Industry scholarship and digital-sector pathways
The IMDA SG Digital Scholarship is an industry undergraduate and postgraduate award for global-ready technology and media leaders. It was awarded to 49 recipients in 2026, who were pursuing studies across media and technology disciplines, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, cybersecurity and quantum-related fields. IMDA says scholars may receive support for internships, overseas internships, exchanges, competitions, certifications and industry networking, and join an SG Digital Leadership Accelerator community reported as more than 1,600 people. A scholarship award is therefore a talent-development pathway, not a guarantee of a particular job, salary or technology role (MDDI, 12 August 2026).
The industry classification also matters for interpretation: the SG Digital Scholarship gives scholars flexibility to chart careers in an organisation of their choice, unlike a public-service scholarship described in terms of work supporting MDDI or its agencies. Current application requirements and award terms must be checked with IMDA or the relevant administering body (MDDI, 12 August 2026).
Institutional boundaries
The Smart Nation Scholarship is jointly offered by CSA, GovTech and IMDA and prepares scholars for work across cybersecurity, digital government and digital infrastructure, including cross-agency rotations. The Information Service scholarships address government communications and translation; the NLB Scholarship supports library and archival talent; and the SG Digital Scholarship is an industry scholarship with flexibility for scholars to pursue technology or media roles in an organisation of their choice. These tracks should not be collapsed into a single MDDI employment bond or treated as interchangeable with MOE financial aid, SkillsFuture support or a general university admission route (MDDI, 12 August 2026).
How to read the 2026 awards
The headline figure of 72 scholarships is the total awarded by MDDI and its statutory boards and agencies at the 12 August 2026 ceremony. It combines public-service undergraduate awards, the MDDI postgraduate awards and the IMDA industry scholarship; it is not a single intake quota or a count of scholarships offered under one set of terms (MDDI, 12 August 2026, rechecked 12 September 2026). The named agencies also retain distinct missions: CSA, GovTech and IMDA jointly support the Smart Nation track, MDDI administers the Information Service tracks, NLB supports library and archival talent, and IMDA's SG Digital Scholarship is positioned for roles across the digital economy. Questions about an application, bond or career route should therefore identify the specific scholarship rather than rely on the family-wide total.
