SAF Engineering Scholarship 2026
Purpose and career pathway
The SAF Engineering Scholarship is a MINDEF/SAF scholarship for people who intend to become military engineers and serve under the Military Domain Experts Scheme (MDES). MINDEF describes the award as providing university education and training for deep engineering specialisation, followed by appointments in MINDEF/SAF and possible rotations into the Defence Technology Community. It is a military scholarship, not the non-uniformed Public Service Commission Engineering Scholarship. (MINDEF, updated 1 September 2026, accessed 5 September 2026.)
Application windows and eligibility boundary
The MINDEF page listed the application window for male applicants as 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027. It listed a separate female-applicant window of 1 April 2027 to 31 August 2027, marked as closed at the page’s 1 September 2026 update. Applicants must meet the current requirements published by MINDEF; the dates and status are application-cycle information, not a permanent eligibility rule. (MINDEF, updated 1 September 2026, accessed 5 September 2026.)
Engineering and service scope
The scholarship is intended to develop leaders with engineering expertise who can design, operationalise and manage high-end technological capabilities for the Singapore Armed Forces. MINDEF presents the award as combining a world-class education with military training and subsequent professional appointments; the page does not guarantee a particular university, engineering discipline, posting or career outcome for every scholar. (MINDEF, updated 1 September 2026, accessed 5 September 2026.)
