World Animal Day 2026 in Singapore

The Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) scheduled a World Animal Day programme combining free September activities at the Central Public Library with a two-day event on 3–4 October 2026, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, at The Plaza in the National Library Building. AVS described the programme as a family-friendly public engagement effort on animal welfare, responsible care and community participation (AVS, updated 1 September 2026).

September library programme

The September schedule includes storytelling on 5, 13, 19 and 20 September; a How to Say Hi to A Cat session with Love Kuching Project on 5 September; dog-safety and body-language activities with Chained Dog Awareness Singapore on 12 September; and a parrot-learning and responsible-ownership workshop with Parrot Society (Singapore) on 13 September. The schedule also lists an SOSD Homebound film screening and merchandise booth on 19 September and an OSCAS adoption-awareness activity on 20 September (AVS, updated 1 September 2026).

October event and scope

AVS said more details of the 3–4 October event would be released closer to the date. The programme is organised by AVS with support from the National Library Board and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, reflecting collaboration among government, library, welfare-group and community participants (AVS, updated 1 September 2026).

The listing is an outreach calendar, not a change to animal-licensing rules, veterinary requirements or adoption eligibility. People considering a pet, foster arrangement or animal interaction should continue to check the relevant AVS rules and the participating organisation’s own requirements; attending a programme does not itself approve an adoption or create a licence (AVS, updated 1 September 2026; animal veterinary service).
