# Dependants' Protection Scheme sum assured by age band

Current CPF Board guidance retains automatic eligibility age 21–65 for eligible citizens and PRs and says DPS is not compulsory. The cover is an insured sum payable subject to death, terminal illness or total permanent disability claim criteria; it is not a savings balance.
