Government-official impersonation is a documented Singapore scam pattern: callers may allege criminal involvement and direct a target to transfer funds to a supposed \u201csafe account\u201d, hand over valuables, disclose credentials or install an app. Singapore government officials will not ask people over a phone call to transfer money or disclose bank log-in details, install apps from unofficial app stores, or accept a call transferred to the Police. An SMS claiming to be from the Government should be checked against the `gov.sg` sender ID; the official guidance notes exceptions for National Service call-ups and emergency services. Contact the bank immediately using its independently verified anti-scam channel; the bank may take steps to prevent further loss. If a card or account is affected, ask the bank about blocking it, restricting access or using its kill switch.
